Changing of the Times
Burnham Overy Staithe
A collection of photographs documenting life in Burnham Overy Staithe from the 1900’s
“These photographs are reproduced from prints and negatives collected by William Henry (Billy) Scoles, 1907-1980.
From his early days at Naseby Cottage to his final days at Fuchsia Cottage, His passion for the creek and village life never diminished, as reflected in these images.” – William Scoles
Please enjoy this wonderful collection of photographs. It was a hard task to pick this small selection from the hundreds that had been collected and taken by the Scoles family over the last 100 years.
I feel it is a real treat to not only view these images but to reproduce them for others to see and enjoy as much as they would have been when they were first taken.
I feel that a photograph is nothing if you cannot share it with others for them to enjoy too.
When looking at these photographs I wonder whether the photographer would have ever considered that we would be looking at these beautiful images some 100 plus years after the shutter was pressed.
I also hope that, as a photographer myself that in 100 years people will be looking at my work and enjoying it just as much as I enjoy creating it today.
I will be adding more photographs from the archive soon.
If you have any you would like to add into the collection, please get in touch!
