The Doorstep Portrait Project

Burnham Overy Staithe

Back in May 2020 in the middle of the Covid 19 Lockdown I started a project to capture the residents of Burnham Overy Staithe with a collection of snapshot doorstep photographs.

The aim of the project was to capture the moment, record our community and create positive memories of this strange time for us to look back on.

As a photographer I am passionate about documenting our ever changing world through photographs.

Little Ella and I really enjoyed meeting new faces and chatting with people we may not have seen for a while, all socially distant of course!

It was lovely to feel part of the community while we were all dealing with the mixed emotions of lockdown alone!

This wonderful collection of photographs show how we all coped with lockdown, many people stepped out of their front doors in slippers, or barefoot! we didn’t need shoes now did we!

People gardened, painted, kept bees and tended to boats! Even the family dogs got in on the snapshot action! But most importantly, people were smiling and happy to be with their loved ones here in our lovely village!

The aim is still to hold an exhibition here in Burnham Overy Staithe of this collection, lovely old photographs from “The Changing of the Times” archive, “BOS Covid 19 2020″ and the Overy Frieze when Covid restrictions end!
